COPYRIGHT ALLIANCE Case Study

We have so much more flexibility with Office 365. It aligns with our need to always provide timely support to our members, whether we’re working from the office, at home, or in the field.
—Amanda Reynolds, Director of Communications, Copyright Alliance

Business Needs:

Staff at Copyright Alliance are always on the go. “Whether we’re at a conference or meeting with one of our members, it is great to know that we can access the latest version of any document at any time,” says Amanda Reynolds, Director of Communications at Copyright Alliance. The organization tried using freeware applications like Dropbox to share and store documents in the cloud. “But we were still missing the collaboration and version control pieces,” says Reynolds.

Solution:

Copyright Alliance adopted Microsoft Office 365, which unites familiar Microsoft Office applications with the power of Microsoft productivity servers into one connected, online solution. Now, among other applications in the suite, staff use Microsoft SharePoint Online to gain highly secure and reliable collaboration capabilities. “One of the most appealing things for us about Office 365 is that it serves as an online hub where we can access familiar tools for creating and editing documents,” says Reynolds. The nonprofit completed its move to the Microsoft solution with help from New Signature, an IT services firm and Microsoft Partner Network member based in Washington, DC.

Benefits:

By adopting Microsoft Office 365, Copyright Alliance has experienced the following benefits:

  • Greater employee flexibility, confidenceBefore moving to Office 365, employees had to put more preparation into working remotely. “Now, through SharePoint Online, we know we can always find the current version of every document,” says Reynolds. “You can’t put a dollar value on that kind of reassurance, or the extra feeling of confidence that comes from it.”
  • Faster responsiveness, more effective advocacy for members. Because employees can share information with greater ease, they can respond more quickly to questions from members. “Our strength as an advocacy organization isour ability to provide well-informed, timely support to our members,” says Reynolds. “With Office 365, we’re much better equipped to deliver on that core mission.”
